I've been driving about 30 minutes and then I was on the last 10 minute drive to work in my hood pops open I was going about 70 at the time the wind takes the hood and smashes you into my windshield how could this have happened

Your hood latch mechanism or its cable is broken.
I think the latch. Because now when I pop the hood I can easily open up and hood without unlocking the hood latch
