How can I unscrew a rounded bolt? I'm changing the oils and the bolt on the oil pan is rounded off. I've tried a pair of pliers but it didn't work. Can you, Scotty or anyone help me?
You could file some flats back into it and then use a smaller wrench.
But how did the head get rounded off? Is the plug cross-threaded? If so you'll need an extractor, and a repair kit handy.

Did ya soak it with WD40? If not, soak it really good and give it some time. Make sure you use vice grip pliers not just normal, to really get ahold of it.
After it soaks and you get the vice on it as tight as possible, give it a good jerk in the opposite direction like you're trying to tighten it, to "break it loose" then start trying to take it off again. (Helps sometimes).
Try using a socket that's one size smaller and hammer it on if you can.
Best to keep soaking it and monkeying with it and hopefully you won't have to weld a nut to it or cut it out. Good luck, they are aggravating.
I use spiraled sockets. They work great. You may find them on Amazon.
