Hi. I have a 1991 Nissan Micra with an auto choke carb. How do I go about cleaning the auto choke mechanism? It idles very high and is very reluctant to come back down to a normal idle when the engine warms up. Thank you for any advice.

The linkage that puts the fast idle cam in position (high) when you set the choke is probably crudded up and can be cleaned with spray carburetor cleaner. I normally remove the carb to a workbench where I can get to everything but you can probably do it fairly well on the vehicle if you cover the area around the base of the carb with rags so as not to make a complete mess.
