[Solved] How to fix oxygen sensor wires cut off by thieves.

2001 Honda Accord EX 2.3L 4 cylinder

Some one stole my catalytic.   Repaired the catalytic convertor (aftermarket) for $300.  Mechanic said that the wires were missing in the engine compartment and would have to buy the harness at a junk yard, which would be another $300 repair.  He said I can drive it forever that way without any engine damage.  (No EPA testing where I live).  Is it OK to drive it that way?  Is $300 reasonable to replace the sensor and wire?

Thanks,

Dennis-

If you're any good at soldering, you can do the wiring yourself. You will want to cut the harnesses you need out of the donor car at the junkyard and splice the old and new wires together. Make sure you put the insulating rubber tubes to keep water out of it. Running long-term without O2 sensors can cause issues in the very long term, from running rich or lean.
