Hyundai/Kia fight

For some owners of Hyundais and Kias, if they got laughed at because of the cars, wouldn’t it still be a crime to take revenge on them such as arguing, physical or mental harm, and even assault? I know I’m going overkill but does any of this make sense?

No offense, but this is a silly question.  No one should be made fun of or harmed in any way simply for a car they chose to buy.  Their money, their choice.  They had an opportunity to research the car before they bought, so now they have to live with their choice.

I for one can't stand people who drive Amphicars. Show-offs.

1941-1944 Type 166 Schwimmwagen. Only a handful exist.

Surprised

has spare tire, and spare paddle LoL

Just curious:

Are you posting just to post whatever random thought may be going through your head at any exact moment?

You realize that you're asking if assault is legal, right? Sad

you're right. I think Matthew likes to think aloud, on this forum.

are you thinking about hurting people because they're making fun of your car?

No, nobody ever made fun of my car. Of course not. I would never intend to harm anyone because of my car, but it seems a little rude to me when someone makes fun of someone’s car.

I don't think so. It's just an object.
Also, assault is always crime.

My FIRST thought!

This question is a great reminder the internet is a magical place.

Who would hate a fellow man based on whether they drive a Korean car?

Now... Whether they drive a Duramax... That's another question.

I have to go with Scotty's philosophy on this one.

If I do something stupid, I expect that those who care about me to tell me the TRUTH and call me out. Poking fun is fair game, but it has to be funny. I at least want to get a laugh out of it.

When did everybody become such a snowflake?

I Dont Know

There is no shame in owning a Kia.

In the words of Zero Mostel in "Fiddler on the Roof": "But it's no great honor either!"

I don't like it when people keep saying BS about how great Hyundai is and how better quality it is compared to Toyota and Lalala, that stuff is a bunch of nonsense anyway. We are not hating on your choices or decisions, but we just give advice to people that it's not a worthy investment in the long run, and based on all the problems that Korean cars have rn with engines and all, it's hard for me to recommend them to people.

My sister owns a 2016 Sonata Limited. Nobody in my family nor her friends have made fun of her for owning one.

Also, throw Genesis into the conversation since they are the luxury division of Hyundai. Sleek vehicles, right? Yeah definitely since their cars are designed by a former designer of Bentley. Luxurious? Yes indeed. Great dealership network? Hello no, it's awful, and I would probably say worse than Tesla. Getting parts? Hella expensive and not easy to get since they are only 5 years old. Resale Value? Not good. Reliability? Being a Hyundai Kia product, nope not at all. So far I have been seeing electrical issues on the new GV80s and I wouldn't be surprised if they run into engine problems based on all their recent troubles. Smart buy? If you lease it, it's fine but otherwise, not a smart buy.

My neighbor has a Genesis G80 sport and he leases Hyundai/Genesis cars every 5 years and as he is getting older, he is putting fewer KMs on the odometer. He knows how expensive they can be in the long run and he has had his fair share of struggles with the dealership network and from a quality pov, one of his friends even had initial quality issues with their brand new GV70 that they decided to lease. Thankfully his G80 was ok.

Hey! Tiger Woods liked his Genesis!

Hi Scotti

Love the videos but allow me to address this.

The anti Hyundai Kia crowd tend to be pretty obnoxious on the forums but I never felt threatened.

As far as the brand I have had pretty good experience with the ones I owned. While shopping around back 10 years ago I got the impression Toyota and Honda's dealers were colluding to keep the priced high and the inventories scarce. Can you say monopoly.? That was way before covid. It took a lot of persuasion but back then a bunch of people at work were buying this weird brand that sounded like Honda. An Australian was running the company and they had a 10 yaer warranty. My 1st was a Hyundai SantaFe in 2011. The worst failure was a power steering hose blew and wrecked the steering rack and the steering pump. Hyundai covered the repair even though the car was 10 years old (Actually 9 years and 11 months). It came with a ten year warranty and they honored it. I then went for used 2008 Veracruz and it ran fine and I just recently traded it in. I replaced both cars with two Kia's and they seem to be good cars. I do a lot of the maintenance myself and neither my wife nor I drive like maniacs. I had a Celica years ago and it rusted out after 3 years. I am told they really improved since then. My problem was and is trying to get a Toyota or Honda. When I did try the waiting list was a mile long. At one well know dealer I put down a deposit and came back the next day with a check and despite the contract they sold the car to someone else who offered more money. That's legal in New York. They are only obligated to give back your deposit.  The cars on the lot are the stripped down models.  They have one or two nice ones on the showroom floor. That's the bait. When you see the sticker then you are led to the lot with plain colors, cloth seats and optional carpeting at extra charge. I walked down the street and gave the Hyundai dealer a personal check and was handed the keys to a fully loaded SantaFe with leather interior and a sunroof. That does not happen every day but in my case they took care of me. I went for the Kia's this time because I got spoiled by the third row seat and Hyundai does not have one any more in the midsize SUV. If you ever had a teenage daughter you know why that's desirable.

Now I noticed Hyundai and Kia dealers are becoming equally obnoxious as they have gained in popularity. One Kia dealer wanted $9000.00 for extras like an extended warranty , Key fob and wheel insurance along with $700 for title and administrative fees.  The cars are still readily available and there are deals to be had if you do your homework. Hyundai and Kia get a bad wrap from the pundits. My experience is if you take care of them they are reliable.

As far as threats there are obnoxious people every where. Just ignore them. I recently asked about Kia's V6 reliability. I got a lot of "Your Stupid to consider a Kia". That was one of the mild ones. They never answered the question. In a way they did. They had never encountered a Hyundia/Kia 3.3L V6. How could that be? HMA/KMA sold over 1,300,000 vehicles with that engine. One plausible explanation is they don't break down very often.

There is a Santa Clause Matthew and on his days off he drives a Kia which he parks at his Miami Beach summer home.

And of coarse what ever you do don't tell my wife. Smile

Your input is appreciated.

The short answer is: Any physical assault or harm would be illegal. Any mental anguish experienced by rebuttals from responsible spokesmen with opposing view points comes with the territory and is to be expected. As such does not reach the level of indictable. There might be something litigious if financial harm was inflicted such as damaging a public image or reputation in a malicious manner that would effect a business. This is unlikely in a car repair forum such as this. Especially since aliases are used.

There is no shame in owning a Kia. Responsible spokesmen with an opposing viewpoint are offered an opportunity for rebuttal.
