Hello. I have a 2014 Hyundai Sonata Limited with 93000. While driving the vehicle will stop running and the dash lights will come on, as if it's in accessary mode. Once I pullover, put the vehicle in park and start it again it will start driving. Sometime it will do this up to 3 times during a 30 minute trip. Also the vehicle is a push start. Any help would be appreciated.
Have you performed a diagnostic scan? Maybe captured a snapshot of live data when the problem happens?
@chucktobias I have not. I have a scanner on order to to that. Also I do not have a check engine light on and there were no codes when I when to AutoZone and they scanned it.
Problems have to get to a certain level before the check engine light turns on. There may be problems showing in the data that have not risen to that level yet.
Are the battery (and alternator) terminals tight/snug when you gently tug on them?
Other than that, yeah, you’ll need to have it scanned.
That car has a lifetime warranty on the engine. It's one of those Theta II engines that has been subject to recalls and lawsuits. I would call your local Hyundai dealer with your VIN and see if it is eligible for a new engine at NO CHARGE. Chances are that you will get a free engine.
@anthony-zingale Car has a rebuilt title so the dealership said it does not have the lifetime warranty on the engine.
Car has a rebuilt title so the dealership said it does not have the lifetime warranty on the engine. With a salvage title it's already been totaled by an insurance company due to the cost of repair being so high. Flooded, wrecked, all kinds of cars are totaled not only because of the cost of repair but because the likelihood of further problems is high. Your best bet is to do as @chucktobias suggested and delve further into analysis like checking the live data, particularly the fuel trims. The fuel pressure might be low too.
The CEL not coming on doesn't really mean squat https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/postid/316056/
