I’m thinking about buying a challenger RT, what year models had the Mercedes built transmissions. I am a Toyota guy and actually prefer a Lexus RCF over a challenger.
My suggestion: go with a '15+. That's when they stopped using Mercedes transmissions and also updated the body style.
Statistics show that 85% of all Dodge products ever made are still out on the road. The other 15% managed to get home somehow.
Thanks Joe, back at ya!
In 2015, the Mercedes-Benz 5G-Tronic transmission was switched to an 8 speed ZF transmission
If you prefer the Lexus RCF, buy the RCF and Dodge the mechanically challenge Challenger
Just a thought - ten years from now, you won't be able to give away a Challenger, but a 1994-1996 Lexus SC 300/400 will be rising in value.
Can I borrow your crystal ball? I need some lottery numbers.
If you prefer the Lexus go and get it, it is completely superior in quality and reliability than the Fiat. If you’re actually going to buy the Italian challenger I’d go with 2017 or newer and if all you want is an RT I personally would opt for the manual.
