Was 2022 Honda Pilot ex-l a good buy?

I bought a 2022 Honda Pilot ex-l. I thought I made the right decision buying it but I found out it has a rubber timing belt and an interference engine. I'm a widow and I bought this suv in with the plan of driving it 15 years. Have I made a mistake and if so should I trade it while used cars are worth more? Thank you ahead of time for helping me! I'm so grateful and I enjoy your videos!

No you should be fine. Stay on top of the maintenance.

Thank you so much!! I will stay on top of its maintenance. 🙂

You are welcome

It's really not a problem, you won't have to worry about that belt for years. Just have it replaced when called for by the maintenance schedule (7 years or 100,000 miles).

Thank you so much! I'm grateful!

There are many benefits to having a rubber timing belt. They are lighter and they aren’t as noisy.

And you are aware of the disadvantages, if they do break on an interference engine, it could be catastrophic.

But, if you keep up with your maintenance, and have the timing belt and water pump changed according to the owners manual, in probability, your car will be fine.

I don’t know the specific interval for your the Pilot, it’s usually somewhere around 100k miles or around 5-7 years. Check your owners manual.

One good thing to know, is I still see a bunch of older Pilots driving around. More so than other makes of the same era. So just anecdotally, we know that a Pilot can last a long time.

Thank you!!! I needed great advice! Grateful.
