i have a 1987 f350 with 7.5. wanted to see if water pump was moving water. disconnected top hose, removed thermostat, placed garden hose into radiator. water coming out intermittent, runs for a couple secs, then stops, then runs, stop etc.
is this how it should flow?

Why do you believe your water pump may not be working? Do you have an overheating problem?
