When idle the oil pressure guage reads low/minimum and when you barely press the Gas the needle shoots quickly over passed maximum what would this be the motor sounds fine no ticking as if oil pressure was low and oil level is correct
I have a 1997 GMC Sierra K1500

First, verify the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. If that checked out, the oil pressure sensor us faulty.
