I was trying to ask my faithful '04 Tacoma to reach almost 1/2 million miles; it's been taking me> 100 mile round trip to work but it's starting to feel "rough" despite changing oil Q 3k miles with synthetic. My employer (Johns Hopkins) is offering $1k "worker perk" thru Carvana or other used car auto websites. Who'd you recommend I buy car from? My relative who listens to u says u say to avoid new cars for now but I'm needing something soon since I fear breaking down in dangerous city on my nightshift commute.

Carvana and similar outfits are overpriced (probably by more than the $1000 perk) and are convenient dumping grounds for people who are getting rid of bad cars. You'd probably be better off with something new.
