Hey, I have a Hyundai Sonata 2011 and my car drives fine going either up hill or driving on a flat surface, but as soon as I uphill my engine bails on me. I’ve gotten a code of P0014 and took it to many mechanics and spent 500 dollars for no fixes. Please help me. God bless🙌🏾
The Hyundai code page in an earlier reply in this thread is useful, but not determinative. I'd try the cheap solution first. Check the oil level and change your oil and filter. (If you're low on oil, or the oil and/or filter is dirty that could affect the efficiency of the engine. And make sure you use the recommended viscosity).
You might want to also check the fuel filter, since a clogged fuel filter will starve the engine of fuel under load.
Those are the cheaper things.

Then there's this: Valve Timing Control (VTC) harness is open or shorted circuit.

These are electrical problems, a bad harness or relay. You'll need a diagnostic shop to pull up a wiring schematic and trace those. YouTube videos seem to indicate these are not particularly hard to replace.

If it's a mechanical problem that involves a teardown, it will cost.
And if it's the ECM, then the best bet is to find a used OEM in a salvage yard.

In any case, as Ivan from Pine Hollow Diagnostics says, "Don't throw the parts cannon at it." Get a good diagnosis by a shop that knows what they are doing.
I am confused: you say the vehicle drives fine going uphill and on flats, but “as soon as you uphill....” - what does that mean? (Do you mean starting your engine while parked uphill?). Also, what have the mechanics already done/replaced? Do you also have the freeze frame data for that code so we can see under what conditions it came up?
Driving down town it’s fine but as soon as I drive up hill my engine shuts off, then I put the car in park, after that I turn it back on and it slowing inches up the hill.
