I recently bought my roommates 2009 Pontiac G6 with 172,000 miles. He said he had the transmission fluid serviced at 100,000 miles. Is it safe to change the fluid and filter if it’s running fine? I want the transmission to last as long as possible

Change it now, it's 30,000 miles past due.
