[Solved] I want to keep my car

Hi Scotty,  I drive a 2005 Volvo 2.4i  with 218,000km on it. I've fixed/replaced quite a few things on it already, which makes me want to keep it...Now, the seals inside the timing belt area are leaking. It's not dripping yet but there's oil buildup.  Should I repair it or get rid of this car?

Thank you.

It's cheaper to keep her!

Well your title says you want to keep it. If so, I say repair it and keep driving it.

Great cars and that is a common problem just get it fixed and continue driving it

Thanks.

Keep it!  And if you want, you might right now count the months until the next thing you have to fix.  If the cost to fix the next thing is lower than what a car payment would be all those months, you made the right choice 🙂

Is the cost of repairs surpassed what the car is worth? My opinion, if you’re spending more than what the vehicle is worth that doesn’t make sense to me.

Thanks.

@mountainmanjoe explains it perfectly below.

 If it’s not too expensive or costly, keep it!!!

I am curious about

your car is 16 years old, is rust very significant on chassis?

Rust is not significant at all on the chassis.
