Caravan hard downshift

Scotty, I have a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with 3.3 liter V-6 and 208,000 miles. I drive 2 miles to work and on cold mornings when I slow down to turn my dash lights and headlights sometimes dim or blink off and on. Usually only when the transmission downshifts hard. I think the tranny is starting to go because sometimes I need to physically take my foot off the gas to let it shift. I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem or not but thought I would mention it. I though maybe the belt but it seems good and tight. It's more of a nuisance than anything. I've owned this van since 06 and 20,000 miles on it and only about $500 in total repairs other than routine maintenance....it doesn't owe me anything. I will drive it till she dies!!! Just thought you may have an idea.

Thanks

Sounds like a failing battery/alternator. Electrical problems can lead to weird engine/trans problem. Transmission have a lot of solenoids and what not so voltage must be stable.

I do have a new battery but I will check the alternator. Thank you.
