Impact Wrench Purchase

Hi Scotti

I want to buy a impact wrench to take off the lug nuts on my car. It is a midsize SUV. The lug wrench provided with the car doubles as the wrench for the scissor jack so it's only 12" long. That's the only way to get ground clearance to swing wrench around to jack up the car. The last time I had a flat I had to have the car towed because I could not get the lug nuts off. There are a couple of cordless impacts around but they are pricey. Harbor Freight sells a 8.5 amp model for $89 but it's corded. It would still be a help for in my driveway. How much torque do you need to get lug nuts loose typically? Is it the same as the tightening spec in the owners manual?

I have this one: https://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/drills-drivers/impact-wrenches/1-2-in/20v-cordless-12-in-impact-wrench-tool-only-56176.html

I use air at home and take the cordless on the road. It works just fine.

😆 The power rating (Watts or HP) of the motor is what matters, not the voltage, right? Most of my tools are cordless.

Yes. Power is product of voltage and el. current.
