[Solved] Innova Scanner

Scotty....Nancy here in NC. I'm an older lady that works on her vehicles when I can. Looking to get a scanner that I've seen in you videos, the Innova brand. The one I saw you use is the 5160RS pro but it's almost $500. They make one that is 5610 Pro for like $299. Is the less expensive one a decent one? and will it perform abs bleeding procedure?

Go to the Innova site. They have a chart that lists the various features of each tool, after you punch in your vehicle, model and model year.

The Innova 5610 (non RS) does ABS brake bleed and is already very capable.  See below:

To be safe, check to see all the features it can perform for your vehicle: scroll down to ‘Coverage Checker’ down below on that page and select the tool and your vehicle.

Also, if you buy the tool I recommend you buy from them direct on their store to get the latest firmware, or one of their authorized dealers, and to not get scammed - but ordering from them direct might be wise.  Some of these scan tool companies (like Autel) don’t sell direct and rely on dealers, but it seems Innova sells direct - which is a plus.

You may also want to ask them about the RS - I have seen Scotty using that tool and it is not clear to me the difference between the standard 5610 and the 5610RS, but the regular one is already very capable, and esp. for its price point.  I may have to pick one up to complement my Autel scan tool, since the Innova can do some bi-directional testing that my $400 Autel cannot.

I e-mailed Innova directly and asked about the difference between the 5610 and 5610RS.  This was their answer:

“The 5160RS and 5610 are the exact same tools in features and coverage, but just have different colors. You can purchase the 5160RS off Amazon. I do not know why the prices are different, even though these tools are the same except for colors. The 5610 is less expensive.“

Wow...same tool and such a wide difference in prices...that's crazy. Thanks for the information. I was checking them for all our vehicles, and it seems that fewer functions work the newer the vehicle, especially our 2019 Camaro
