Me and my friend have been looking for a project car to sell for a profit. We have found a 1981 datsun 280zx with 203,000 miles on the odometer, and a 1982 280zx that we don't know the mileage of yet but is being sold with the '81 as parts car. in the ad the seller said the '81 was running good a couple weeks ago but has stopped and he doesn't know why. Both of the cars are being sold for $2500. Is this a good deal or should I run away from these cars?
No they could be fun project cars just realized even though they're old the 280s were still fuel injected and you will have to know how to work on fuel injection system
How much profit are you hoping to make?
Parts for those cars are not cheap and as Scotty said you better know your fuel systems before diving into one of those. They make good project cars, but if you want to restore it to make a profit selling it you better have deep pockets. With the age and mileage, that isn't the kind of car you can fix up and flip. You need to be ready for potential engine swap, new transmission, etc.
Just do your research and make sure you understand the costs related to what you are getting into.
