Hi, is a 2016 Mazda 3 a reliable vehicle? Automatic only, no manual. How does it compare to a civic considering the civic has a CVT and the Mazda has a 5 or 6 speed auto? And the engines....
If it’s their GDI engine in that Mazda 3, I’d rather have the Civic (without the turbo).
Also, look out for Corollas as they are the best among the category you’re looking at.
@inthrustwetrust Corolla and Civic interiors (esp. non-turbo for latter) are El Cheapo compared with Mazda 3. Look at Consumer Reports for reliability ratings instead of getting bluff opinions from some internet person.
I would pick the Civic. It can outlast that Mazda by far.
@yaser
Got any evidence for that? Mazda 3 2.0 2016 uses the exact same engine as MX5 Miata which is raced all over the world on weekends. There have been no reported unusual problems per Consumer Reports or other sites.
Evidence is honest mechanics’ opinions. And here is one sample:

We are not here to change people’s mind. We just give some guidance. It is your money, you can buy whatever you want. Good luck.
The Civic will outlast the Mazda everytime. You say the Mazda 3 interior looks better to you. Nobody is setting out to change your mind. But you are asking for advice while sounding like you've already made up your mind to be honest.
It's your money, get what you want. But the thousands of Civics that have come through my shop have come in for upgrades. I haven't had many Mazda 3's come in that weren't looking for repairs. So my "evidence" would be my real world, hands on experience. Not a hyperlink to some website where some guy gives his opinion on the matter.
Like I said, if you like the Mazda get it, but the Civic lasts longer. Its been proven.
I would agree with you on the older civics...but the newer models (2006 and up) are having issues, engines and trannys. Look at car complaints.com.
Honda are having oil dilutions issues and CVT tranny problems, also. Even consumer reports have given them bad ratings, now.
