2010 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 LS 254,000 miles. looks to be in great shape and It has a clean title. It was used for towing. even though mileage may be high The guy spent $3,000 on a new transmission at 238,000 miles. It came with a warranty 2 years or 24,000 miles. Also another $2,700 of parts was put into the truck. They include 4 new tires, 2 lower ball joints, 2 upper control arms/ball joints, 2 front stabilizer links, 2 front stabilizer frame mounted bushing, fuel pump, and control arm nut and bolt. Only flaw is a cracked dashboard. That all said could it still last another 50-100k miles? Is it still worth buying for a second hand non daily driver for $8,500 when almost $6k of work was done? Should I even offer less or just pass?
First of all, it is a relatively new GM which we know the quality is not there to begin with. Also, the truck has high mileage with towing. Also, the transmission situation is not clear. The price is too high as well. Considering all these together, I would pass on that.
Here's a question I would want to know: Who replaced the transmission- junk yard trans, rebuilt, remanufactured? This car a quarter of a million miles and he's asking way too much. I would look at something else. If are you planning on lowing the price- offer him half of what he's asking and if he says no, run away.
I don’t know who replaced it but $3,000 was spent on it so which out of those 3 choices makes better sense? Either way I may just keep looking
If you don't know who replaced it then keep looking-don't even bother looking into any more.
In my opinion i would not. Those new parts will outlast the old parts. Something else could fail in a fast period of time. But the choice is up to you 100%.
If you want to risk it, offer $4K. What kind of warranty? Have you read it? If this is from a dealer I would do the 100 yard dash in the opposite direction.
I don’t want to risk I got advise that was leaning more to stay away so that’s what I’ll do besides the warranty doesn’t have much left since he already put 16,000 miles when it’s only good to 24,000
Also he just listed he on Facebook market place asking $10,000 now
