Hi Scotty, I have a 99 forester (manual) with 120k miles and yesterday it came to a complete stop, there was a huge gash in my oil pan and there was no oil left, also my camshaft sprocket was shattered, is my engine totaled?

Certainly sounds like it is to me. I would have a professional look at it though.

From your description it sounds like the engine threw a rod. Either that or you hit something in the road that tore a hole in the oil pan with the same result. That's about as bad as it gets, I'm afraid, it's done.

Yeah that is NOT good. Sounds like it is time for a new car.

If it went BOOM while you were driving, then most likely yes. That's fatal damage. Sorry, my friend.
