I have a 2008 Chevy Aveo 1.6l automatic.
I bought it a few months back and after driving smell radiator fluid smell but not leaks. Reservoir was full and not lights inside. Not leaks under car either.
Car has 07,000 miles and ran great.
My son was driving and white smoke came from the back of the motor. After the car sat for a while the reservoir had drained down. I put a cardboard under the car and filled the reservoir again, came back and there was a leak in align with the rear of the motor in the center. The oil is clean.
What test can I do to confirm what the problem is? Are there any hoses back there that could cause this leak? Could the thermostat or water pump cause the issue?
I am a disabled vet with low vision so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your service.
It could be an external headgasket leak in the back, could be a line to the heater core that's loose and leaking out. Probably not the water pump or thermostat. Has the car ever overheated?
