Hello Scotty. Recently on a family call my grandad in Europe asked if I want his 1983 Mercedes W201 with an 2.5L OM602 Turbo-diesel engine and manual transmission as he barely drives it due to his new Landrover. However the car has over 350,000km (217,472 miles) which is extremely concerning, but he assures me theres nothing wrong with it. Should I take his offer of a free car or am I better off finding a used Corolla here in Australia?
Thanks for the support!
What the heck is free driving around or something big doesn't just junk it and get a Corolla
Those cars can last forever. Keep driving it and do not worry about it.
Not sure if it would last much further even though old mercs have a rep for living long. Its outliving a regular cars expiration date which is pretty concering. I might take scottys advice and tell my grandad to just keep it and buy a corolla instead unless theres some factor I'm not aware of regarding W201's
