I have a 1998 Jeep TJ Sahara 4.0L (114k mikes) that is driving me crazy but I love the vehicle. I get a miss / backfiring every time I drive the vehicle within the first 1/4 mile to 2 miles. It misses and backfires (several times) and then after a minute is goes away and drives like a charm. It will stall if at a light if you don’t put in neutral and give it throttle. It doesn’t matter if the vehicle is started cold or warm. No check engine light or codes reported. I’ve taken it to multiple mechanics and no one can figure it out. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!.

Anything suspicious in live data?
My apologies but I’m. not sure what you mean by live data.
Of course looking for codes is only the beginning of the diagnostic process. Most scan tools can display, record, and graft the vehicle's data stream such as fuel trims, ignition timing, engine temperature, and lots more. Of course a 1998 model will have limited data available compared to a newer vehicle but there's enough that you may be able to get an idea of what's going on.
