Jerky downshift cvt

Just bought a new 2021 corolla. Feels a little jerky down shifting. Its my first time driving cvt and I was wondering if that was normal. Like it isn't too bad but its a little noticeable. It drives well but it feels weird when driving in neighborhoods.

The biggest mistake they keep making with these CVT transmissions is adding fake shifts.

And my bet is they would last a lot longer without them.

Why on earth would it make sense to take something specifically designed for smooth "continuous variable" operation and then add what are no more than shudder points?

From what I learned theres only 2 gears. When I'm on the highway no shifting which is all fine and dandy. Its just when I'm driving home in the neighbor hood that it switched gears weird

Time to get the problem solved at the dealer. What you experience is not normal so get it fixed.

The shifting you feel may be something inside the transmission or maybe even the stop/start "feature", if you have that.

Oh yes. You are right. There is one regular gear for low speeds. That is worth returning to the dealer for a check.
