Just purchased a 2024 RAV4 XLE Premium - Maintenance Advice?

Hey y’all,

My wife and I (late 20s) in Jacksonville FL. Just purchased a new 2024 RAV4 XLE Premium, under MSRP, low interest rate, no add ons, etc. Deals do exist but I had to drive 250 miles.

Nevertheless, do these cars have any break in period? There’s nothing in the manual about it.I thought to change the oil at 1k miles for “break in”. I plan to change the oil very 5k miles or 6 months. Is that too little or too much?

It’s a gas 2.5L with the 8 speed auto.

Break-in is a contentious topic. It definitely isn't as important as it was 50 years ago. Manufacturing has improved A LOT. Cars aren't built by hand like this anymore (see photo)

Odds are that you won't gain a thing from doing an early oil change. On the other hand, it only costs you an extra $40, and you flush out anything that might be floating around from some friday afternoon mistake. It's your call.

Oil change every 5K is what I hear every mechanic suggest, even though the book says 10k. Probably smart to do so every 5K.
