Hey Everyone so I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima 166k miles with a slow water pump leak. I believe the water pump still works fine(doesn’t overheat) but the seal is leaking. Normally the right thing to do is to replace the water pump, but too bad it’s run by the timing chain and today I got a quote from the dealer for $950 to replace it. There’s a coolant sealer call K-Seal that I believe Scotty hasn’t talked about.

After doing research, it say it can seal water pump, but also head gasket, engine block, radiator, etc. It seem to have mostly positive review. Anyone used this product before? If so how are your experience. I’m thinking about changing the coolant then put in this sealer to try to stop the leak.
K-seal might work, but first get two quotes from independent mechanics to replace the water pump with a new or "re-manufactured" one. They will charge less than a dealership and you would have a real fix.
I've used Bar's Leak in cars with good results.
Put it in our old CRV several years ago and it stopped the water pump from weeping.
Pretty sure it was the "liquid copper" product. Used only half a bottle.
But wait for other replies. I can only attest the Bar's Leak worked in my instance.
Yes, the right thing to do is replace it.....
