Hi Scotti
Last summer I bought a used 2019 Kia Sorento with 28 thousand miles. The engine is a V6. One thing I noticed the first month was it burned a quart of oil. I got used to topping it off the oil every week. In December I changed the oil. After the oil change the oil usage dropped to about 1/2 a quart a month. In the spring I changed the oil again. I still check it once a week but now the oil level does not change. For 3 months now. I am using OEM filters and Walmart's synthetic house brand oil. What would make a car stop burning oil. Wouldn't the car be well broken in by 28 thousand miles? Could using the wrong oil cause this?
The piston rings might be stuck due to the lack of maintenance. You changed the oil and filter regularly and it cleaned up the gunks.
