So I have a 1999 Lexus rx300 with 340,000 miles on the original engine and it sounds like I have a knock coming sound as you apply throttle till you hit 4500 rpm and it seems to go away, it sounds like it’s coming from the timing belt cover on the left side of the engine which makes me thing it might just be a bad belt with some strands slapping the cover, what do you think? Thanks in advance.

When was the last time timing belt was changed?
Not sure I think the previous owner had it changed around 200k miles
If the last time it was changed at 200k miles, it should be changed again sooner than later.
