What is your opinion on the older landrovers? I'm currently looking at an old landrover series 3 and I was wondering if you had any experience with them.
I’ve never had the honor of tinkering on one. From what I have read some of the earlier ones had gearbox and rear axle issues uNtil they doubled the number of splines on the axles which I think happened 1970-71 maybe, and by 1978-79 quality control started slipping as the British government got more involved in production. So if you can nab a magic year and understand parts and maintenance are not cheap If it’s really what you want and can afford it then sure. Personally I’d find an old Toyota Land Cruiser. But you’ll pay same price for a 70s one that new ones cost today. Well worth it though.
