Scotty, how are lexus cars different than limited toyota cars? Why do people pay more for lexus? Are they more reliable than toyota's?
Lexus is like a premium built of toyota just like
Honda and acura
Hundayi and genesis
Nissan and infinity
Lexus has more luxury, comfort and performance as compared to toyota. But overall toyota put effort in its both luxury and daily use line. Both brands are reliable and have soild build and bullet proof engine that can take quite a beating before breaking down.
The only down side about Lexus it is expensive to maintain as compared to traditional daily use toyota.
So if your planning to buy it really upto you

While Lexus is divided into luxury and performance
Better quality materials, smoother ride, more luxury....that's what you get with Lexus. Nothing wrong with Toyota, but Lexus is a step above.
It's a premium brand. Not a Rolls Royce, but higher end. More luxuries, more refined interior etc.

Also, as to why people buy Lexus over Toyota - for some of them in addition to the reasons already mentioned above they also buy for the sake of the badge/image, similar to why some people buy BMW, MB, Audi, Porsche, JLR, and other luxury products.
