I have a check VSC sensor no check engine light brought it to a mechanic. He said the steering angle sensor needs replacement. $500 dealer part plus labor = $750!
Any advice on how to fix perhaps a cheaper way? He said he’s worried going aftermarket with the electrical and that this may mess things up…requires basically taking the whole wheel apart. No way to clear sensor either.
I have a 2008 AWD Lexus IS250…thanks

You definitely want to stick with an OEM sensor. There are sites online, many run by dealers, that give a discount on OEM Toyota parts so you may be able to get that a bit cheaper. (Stay away from Amazon and eBay though - lots of counterfeits there.) The labor is what it is though, no way around that.
