I have a 2010 Toyota Highlander sport with 135K miles automatic non-hybrid four-wheel drive.
Whenever I try to use the button to automatically lift the rear lift gate it begins to open or close but it stops and I get four rapid beeps afterward. I No trouble codes hooked up to my autel scanner. Also The on button that is in the glove compartment is switched to the on position.
Please let me know any suggestions or what I should try to get this to work. Thank you!
Well I realize those things are all computer driven I would say probably has a problem in the sensor on the gate itself or the module that operates it
Does your owner's manual provide any info what the 4 beeps mean?
Try this
2) Open hatch manually all the way
3) With hatch opened fully, press and hold rear latch button until you hear 4 quick beeps
4) Place hatch back in on position via the glove compartment button.
5) Attempt to open hatch with fob, rear lift gate button or front dash button
I haven't been able to find anything in the manual that indicates what those beeps mean But I will give this a try.
I'm just curious is what you recommended some kind of secret Toyota workaround that only a mechanic would know or just something that you came up with? No shade I'm really just curious
I found it on the interwebs. Somebody said it worked for them.
Also load test your battery.
Battery load test checked out fine
The battery is fine, the car was recently serviced and all the numbers on it are good... I have a neighbor that is up the street who is a mechanic at the Kia dealership in town but I know that he fixes a lot of cars on his own so I'll see if he can scan it with his higher-level tool and tell me exactly what needs replacing
I will give that a try! Thanks for the suggestion
