My 1961 straight 6 chevy just started ticking my mechanic said it was a lifter and I am sure that it is. I have replaced the head gasket wheich is when I found out that it had 2 bent push rods. Could the 2 push rods I replaced be the cause of the bad lifters? Also is it okay to drive it with bad lifters?
It has solid mechanical lifters
I did adjust the valves hot

You might want to recheck your valve adjustment, especially if, as you say, they are solid lifters and require a very precise gap (different for intake and exhaust).
