[Solved] Lincoln Continental 2020 reliability opinions

Topic starter

I currently have a 2009 Lincoln MKS. I am broken hearted that 2020 is the last year. I want to buy the new Continental but, need an opinion on reliability and type of engine. My father was a master mechanic and died young. I lost the one person to give me advice. Thanks in advance. I’m open to the MKZ as well. Just do not like that the MKZ  is assembled in Mexico. Welcome to Tennessee. I’m your neighbor.

If you plan on keeping it long term put a oil catch can on it since that motor is GDI/Turbo. And baby it like crazy. Ford/Lincoln are crazy about these GDI/turbo motors and I personally don’t like those 2 things combined.

I really like the Continental. They are just quite pricey.

For what it is worth, I haven't heard of any major issues with them.

How long do you plan on keeping and how many miles do you want the vehicle to go?  (I.e. Do you plan on getting rid of the vehicle before 100,000 miles or do you plan on taking it well beyond?)

I currently have 118, 000 on the 2009. Plan on keeping for long term.

If you plan to keep long term and put well beyond 100,000 miles on it, I would at least avoid the Ecoboost engines (2.7 and 3.0) in the Continental. Plus those are direct injection-only engines so susceptible to carbon buildup- another hassle you may have to deal with.

That leaves none. The 2.7 liter V6 twin turbo has direct fuel injection and says nothing about Ecoboost. Which engine would be safest ?.
