I was leaning towards the Genesis G70 but I think everyone has changed my mind about those. What are some luxury spots around 55k and under?

If you are looking for a sports sedan, look at Lexus and Acura.

For Lexus, look at the the IS or ES, especially with the F Sport badge.

For Acura, look for the Integra or TLX with the Type S or A Spec badge.

The badges usually indicate performance enhancement for a more sporty feel. I must caution, that sometimes the sporty enhancement don’t drive as comfortably as the regular versions, because those badges are built with performance in mind.

Look at the specs, and try them out. let us know why you think.

Kaizen. That's Japanese for continuous improvement. I work at a Japanese car lighting plant and we use it there.

How cool you work there! That’s the reason I chose the screen name, because of the Japanese car makers and suppliers using kaizen.

We're a Japanese company and most of customers are Japanese but we just picked up Ford Explorer business this year. We'll be making their new headlamps and taillamps. We have a whole section of the plant cleared out and a new machine put in because it's so high volume.

I will throw one more option out there, it is more or less reliable, BUT it costs an arm and a leg to maintain. I actually think this vehicle has the “best” of both worlds, delivering luxury comfort and performance.

The BMW M340i.

Not the BMW M3 (too expensive). Not the BMW 330i (fine car but not performance oriented).

BMW does a great job on the feel, power, and driver experience of the car, IMHO. They just cost too much to maintain and repair. So I usually recommend Acura and Lexus.
