Looking for a reliable vehicle

Hello, I am a college student saving up some $ for a reliable vehicle. I am not very picky, I just want a car that is economic and won't leave me on the side of the road. I have heard many times that Hondas and Toyotas are the best, but I am not sure what is best and more reliable of either? SUV or sedan? and which year? I am willing to buy a good vehicle for $4500. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance.

SUV or sedan? Both can be reliable but sedan is cheaper. Corolla or Civic can be decent pick for money. Anyway roadtest it and if you like it, let a mechanic check it out.

Good luck.

Be sure to check Scotty's videos for specific Toyota and Honda models to avoid. Even quality manufacturers make mistakes.

Get a Toyota Corolla or Camry.

Oil Leaks.....

Avoid 2007-2009 for the Camry

Avoid 2007-2011 Camry H

Avoid 2009-2011 Corolla

Anything else is fine, look for pre 2008 and below on the Corolla, it would be perfect for you and they run forever and are extremely reliable.....

If you don't mind older vehicles try 1991 thru 1994 Hondas they are pretty much bullet proof mine get around 32mpg highway 28 city internet says otherwise but that's what i get on both of them, i've seen a couple of the older hondas past 1 million miles myself personally and i currently own 2 of them one is at 456,000 miles and still going the other 179,000 and still going. For older Toyota's try 1995-2003 the last one i owned i put on 257,000 miles before tranny and engine went at the same time otherwise i put very little maintenance into them just oil changes & the usual etc... newer vehicle are made cheaply nowadays in my opinion. But If you want newer I suggest Toyota corolla 2013-2016 hope this help you a bit.
