Heyy scotty what’s going on I’m in a Toyota Camry group and I hear most people are saying that it has issues some most saying they have tranny issues I checked car complaint also go see how they are and I see they have transmission issue also. Is that true and if so does it affect the v6 models and how are the v6 engines I’m gonna be a new Toyota owner soon in looking into 2015-18 Camry V6 and I maintain my car even my Nissan’s are still lasting trouble free cause I keep up my maintenance. I wanna make sure I don’t get caught with any of the problems with those years.
Clarification: 2015-2017 were the last years of the previous generation Camry and used the 6-speed automatic transmission. 2018 is the first model year of the current generation which uses the 8-speed transmission. I presume you are looking only at the previous generation Camry with the 6-speed.
Yes the 6-speed automatic I heard and researched they have hesitation when accelerating and it don’t shift right
They are fine. Realize that Toyota use similar powertrain in some Lexus products as well.
Why has there been so many complaints on the hesitation and not shifting correctly I’m nervous on getting it
It is just a feeling and nothing is wrong with them.
Well, the 2015-2017 Camry V6 models were excellent with the 6-speed auto so I would go for those, but 2018 had a lot of transmission troubles when Toyota moved to the 8-speed Aisin auto for the new-gen Camry, which is the same tranny they also put in the FWD-based VW, Volvo, BMW, and Mini products, so I would pass on those. They did improve the transmission over time but I wouldn't say it's perfect, while shift quality is better and it's less jerky, the responsiveness at the start is still kinda lackluster, as I have experienced in not only the Toyota products but also in VW and BMW products that use this Aisin 8 speed.
