I'm looking to buy a Ford Ranger, but the issue I have is that I don't know which years had the least mechanical issues/complaints. I know this is a broad question, but which years of this truck were the good ones? I've been told to stay away from the 1997 version as well as any of them that were from 2000-2006.
Well whatever you get, get a manual trans… those things are bulletproof… depending on what you want to do with it… if you are wanting to pull something… get the V6, if you just want a daily, and a garbage hauler from time to time… get the 4 banger… it’s cheaper to maintain, and I had a 04’ model, with 257K miles on it… and sold it for 3K to my neighbor and it’s still running to this day, almost pushing 300K miles 👍
The Ford Ranger isn't a horrible truck. Yes, some of them did have issues but it all depends on what engine and transmission it has. Which one were you looking at in particular?
