Hi everyone. I am looking to replace my wife's car (2012 Nissan Versa), with a crossover SUV that is safe and reliable. We are also expecting our first kid in June so I don't want her driving around in an old Nissan. Any suggestions? We were looking at a 2016 Subaru forester, anybody have ay experience with those cars or Subarus in general? Thanks.

Get a RAV4 or Highlander.

2016 or so Rav4/Highlander like Yaser said they are reliable and safe maybe even a newer Mazda CX-5.

Scotty answers a similar question (but on 2015 Forester same generation though):

They do have an excellent AWD system (true and tried) if you need that and they can be cheaper than a comparable Toyota.

How long do you plan to keep the vehicle and many total miles are you hoping to get out of it?  I am curious if you considered the Toyota’s or Honda’s as well and/or what other requirements you are looking for in your next vehicle.

This would be a long tern vehicle. So maybe I should just go with the Honda or toyota.

Congrats on expecting your first kid. I won’t repeat the other cars that have already been mentioned. Going from a Nissan Versa to one of the others mentioned above, you’re gonna like it. Will be a huge upgrade in the whole driving experience. Best of luck

Add the Honda CR-V to your list. If you often drive off road or in inclement weather & need a dependable AWD vehicle, the Forester can be a good choice too.

As with any used car, have it thoroughly checked out by a reputed mechanic, before you buy it.

Honda CR/V, Rav4 or Toyota Highlander would be your best bet for a safe and reliable SUV.
