Hey Scotty, I have a 97 Nissan Pathfinder (LE 3.3 L V6 automatic) with about 150k miles, owned it since it was new. I haven’t driven the car for about 2 years, and it seems it has a loss of acceleration and a jerky acceleration as well. (The car has no codes or check engine lights)
Also I’ve been trying to get the car to pass smog however the O2 and Catalyst monitors are still inc after driving the car a couple hundred miles.
While testing out the 4x4 after not using it for so long I expected that it might not work 100% as it should’ve, but am not sure if it’s fine or not. I put it in 4L and the car would shudder and sometimes even stop when taking turns. (However I did this on a dry flat road, and from what I’ve heard people say, it’s completely normal) Please let me know what’s going on. Thanks!
The gas is probably bad after sitting that long. Drain the tank and put fresh gas in, along with an air filter and fuel filter if it's not in the tank.
Don't drive that Pathfinder in 4×4 on a dry road. The shuddering you feel when you turn is the driveline binding up. You're guaranteed to trash your transfer case and front driveline if you do it for any length of time. That is only for driving off road or in snow, low traction situations only. A quick, very slow speed test in a lot is somewhat safer, you'll regret driving on the road like you have AWD.
