Hello scotty hope you’re doing well.
so I drive a 2006 Lincoln Town Car 4.6L V8 engine. A few days ago, I was inside my car parked during my lunch break with the ac on low. Then I noticed the coolant light was on in my dashboard. And the gauge was getting close to the H. So my car was beginning to overheat. The radiator fan turned on as well. This was going on for about a minute. Then I immediately turned off my car. Luckily, there was a walmart in front of me so i bought antifreeze and poured some in my reservoir. I waited a couple minuted and turned my car back on again. All was back to normal and my car ran great again. However, I didn’t notice no leaks whatsoever, no smoke, nor any faulty smells coming from the engine. But i will soon have my car checked. My question though, is since my car was beginning to overheat, would that be a problem in the long run or would there be a high chance that I saved my car just in time?
Your car should be fine as in you caught it in time, i would check out a few things.
Start simple. Try checking your Tstat. Then tend to get old and stick closed at times. Water pump not circulating properly, this would usually give you a whirring or alight grinding sound in that area. Air locked, as in air in your coolant system, and coolant temperature sensor could also be a culprit.
