Hello everybody. I own a 1997 Lexus LS400 with 240k miles. Very recently I have been having issues, where It would stall when coming to a stop, it would start up again only to slowly stall again. When on the highway, the vehicle’s electronics would go down and feel the engine shut down (RPM and Speedometer would drop to zero), but come on right away. It was parked it for a while, and when attempting to turn it back on, it would not crank or start. There is no sound when the key is turned. No lights or codes are showing up, battery was recently replaced as it only had 8volts when tested, but didn’t make a difference
. Suspecting the alternator. Any other suggestions would help. Thank you!
To start with, have your battery and alternator tested. Auto Zone will do it for free. Other auto parts stores probably do as well.
Took alternator and battery to be tested, both are working just fine. I also switched out the starter and fuel pump relay, but didn’t do anything. I can hear them engaging as well.
Maybe start your troubleshooting at the Starter Relay socket.
The circuit is printed on the relay.
Sockets 1 & 2 are the Control Side of the relay.
Sockets 3 & 5 are the Load Side of the relay

Pull out the relay and use a wire to jump sockets 3 & 5. If the starter doesn't spin grab a test light, attach the alligator clip to battery negative, and probe socket 5 to see if it's getting Power from the 40 amp ST fuse in the underhood fuse box.
But if the starter did spin then use the test light to check that Power is being provided to socket 1 or 2 from the ignition switch, through the 7.5 amp Starter fuse in the passenger compartment fuse box, when the key is held in the Start position.
