I live in Boston and drive an 04 Grand Marquis with 80k miles. I bought it for 1800 bucks and spent another 1000 bucks to replace the (brakes, rear suspension, rear control arms, Sway bar, diff fluid). The car has lived in the salt belt for over 15 years now I feel it needs components coz of the age and miles (coolant flush, spark plugs, etc) to keep it going for a while. All these costs add up and I was wondering is it worth to spend on this car or just drive it without putting much on it? I plan to keep it for another 3-4 years.

I'd say keep it, do the maintenance, drive it and enjoy the comfort. Those things were built to last ...
Without knowing the seriousness of the rust damage, it is hard to say. But the car can go for hundreds of thousands of miles with regular maintenance. Those things are mile eaters.
Keep the car and keep up with the maintenance. It will last a really long time.
