[Solved] Manual transmission fluid change

I have a manual transmission that has 97,000 miles and the fluid hasn’t been changed in a while. Do you know if it is okay if I change the fluid? Would the transition slip or not engage properly, like an automatic transmission where it will slip or not engage properly if you don’t change the fluid regularly. Thanks.😁

Nothing like an automatic. Change with the factory recommended fluid listed in the car manual. Automatics are a "pressure" style system. Manual is completely mechanical.

So is it ok to change the fluid, even though the fluid change is way passed the due date?

Yes its totally fine to change. Manual trannys are a totally different ball game. If you had an automatic that had been neglected for that long, then changing the fluid would be asking for trouble since some of the gritty material from the clutches would be in the old fluid. If you take that out and put in slippery new fluid with none of that clutch material, your transmission might start to slip very badly. However, that is not a concern with manual transmissions as they don't work in that way. I would change it.

Thank you very much. I will definitely change it!👍
