Hello Scotty, I recently bought a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 and after 5,000 miles there is a whine when I am in gear and I decelerate or lift off the throttle. Thought it may be the pinion bearing but how hard/expensive is that to fix?

I assume that the noise you hear comes from the transmission. Maybe internal wear. Ask a professional mechanic to check it for you before it makes you trouble.
