Hey everyone, I am doing a little bit of research on my 2017 Miata with the 2.0 liter Skyactiv tech GDI engine and I was wondering if these engine are only GDI or if they also have port injection like some of the newer Toyotas. As always thanks for the responses!

Hey everyone! I have a 2017 Miata with 83,000 mi. I was wondering how often should a gdi engine be cleaned.
What do you mean by "cleaned"? Like carbon buildup cleaning, or actually washed?
carbon buildup
carbon buildup
Pulverized walnut shells and a sand blaster is your best bet, and have a qualified technician do the work. I haven't made the leap to GDI. My wife has a 2017 EcoBoost Mustang, I have a naturally aspirated V6 of the same year. She has a little over 100k miles on hers, and she hasn't noticed anything out of the ordinary, yet. She mainly drives on the highway and country roads, though. She also commutes 23 miles one way for work.
CRC 05319 GDI IVD Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner, 11 oz - Walmart.com I found this while I was doing a quick search. A plating company I used to work for used CRC brake cleaner for preparing parts, and I used CRC engine degreaser to clean a piston I found at a junkyard for plating. I didn't have any issues at all, so I would assume this stuff also works.
I was watching this ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChbbR-FEX-8) video from Scotty and he uses and Lucas gdi cleaner. Which would you say works better? I know walnut shells probably work the best but in my mind that must cost a lot of money.
Having never tried specifically CRC cleaner for GDI engines, I can't say. I've only tried brake cleaner and engine degreaser.by CRC.
They are just GDI

Hey everyone! I was wondering at what revs clean carbon buildup on a GDI engine. I have a 2017 Miata with 87,000 miles and I am trying to avoid this issue. As always, thank y'all for the responses!
