Hello Scotty,

My question is about the Mazda MX 5 miata. Does the current miata have a direct and port fuel injection?

For my knowledge it has a GDI system only not port and GDI

They stopped using port injection after the third gen Miata.

I did some digging: … current Miata MX-5 has a 2.0 SkyActiv-G (Mazda's PE-VPS) engine. It is 2.0-litre four cylinders gasoline plant, … compression ratio is 14.0:1 - European version / 13.0:1 - North America version. It’s a unique design, … works on two cycles: Atkinson at low loads - intake valves are closed late in the compression cycle, … and Otto at medium and high loads - intake valves are closed earlier in the compression cycle. Fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber at pressure up to 2900 psi. Cams are driven by a timing chain. Total weight of the engine has been reduced by 10% from previous MKZ 2.0 - engine has an aluminum alloy block and an aluminum-silicon cylinder head.

All these stuff is implemented to gain more power efficiency. Fwiw

So goodbye engine and thus MX-5 reliability on long term
