Hey Scotty I love your channel. I have a question I purchased a 2017 hyunfai sante fe I. Feb of this year. It had 66k miles on it started burning oil and then I. May burned down to the ground. Look up Sunoco Car fire on youtube for May 28th date. Anyway hyndai will be paying me and I won't to know the best vehicle to get. I watched your toyota video about oil sludging and consumption so I'm afraid of the venza since that was the issue with hyundai. Now I'm looking at the 2019 cx9. Any advice would be appreciated.

Scotty talks in that video about the 2.4L engine, that has been not been installed on new cars since 2015.
The engine that replaced the 2.4 AZ-series, the 2.5L AR-series is a delightful engine with so such issues.
Oil consumption issues also apply to Toyota 1.6/1.8 ZZ and early 1.6/1.8 ZR engines, solved in 2010.

These issues do not apply to the Venza.
The engines it had are 2.7 AR-series and 3.5 GR-series for the previous generation, and 2.5 DynamicForce for the new gen.
All of these engines are good, the 2.5L on the last gen isn't good for cold climates, but other than that perfectly good engines.

Not recommended, these have a forced induction variant of the SkyActiv-G - they burn oil like mad.
Any advice would be appreciated
The Toyota RAV4 with any drivetrain, or a Toyota Highlander hybrid are the way to go - they're solid, reliable, safe cars.
The Venza also seems to be alright, since it's just a fancier RAV4 (same powertrain and same TNGA-K platform)
