I took my car for an oil change to a new garage, because the one I used to visit closed down. While the engine was drained of oil and the first mechanic was fetching the proper oil filter, a second mechanic drove my car off the spot, thinking it had already been serviced. Terrible procedure, I know.

As soon as I noticed it, I told the mechanic to stop and shut the engine immediately. By that time, the car had creeped for about 100 feet, and the engine must’ve run for 2 or 3 minutes. Once the stupid mechanic realized what happened, he jacked up the car right where it was. He took out the old oil filter, and then he completed the oil change.

Fast forward 300 miles. The engine sounds and behaves the exact same way it did before, both in cold starts and at working temperature. Oil dipstick shows a solid FULL.

My question: considering the engine shows no immediate signs of any damage whatsoever, can I call it a day and forget that this ever happened? Could the engine get progressively worse over the next few thousand miles? Should I get another oil change and check the oil that comes out for signs of damage?

For the record: I drive a 2019 Toyota Etios Sedan. 1.5L 2NR-FBE engine, U442E 4-spd auto transmission, 32,100 miles on the odometer. I get oil changes every ~3,500 miles. I live in Brazil, but, as you can see, proper maintenance isn’t a very strong concept locally, so good advice (and service) is hard to come by. I appreciate any insight...
